Description
Spanish Civil War M21 Helmet
An original M21 helmet from the Spanish Civil War.
The M21 helmet was the first to be locally produced in Spain and was known as “Sin Ala”- without wings -due to the straight sides of the helmet.
12,000 were produced in 1926 before being replaced by the M26- helmet “Con Ala” with wings.
This example has the original brown leather lining, and felt head protectors, all original helmet clips for chinstrap , it does come with its original chinstrap , but has also a new one fitted. all original buckles.
These helmets were withdrawn in 1943 and re-painted in green and had a frontal bracket fitted, and non hollow rivets fitted.
The M1921 Helmet, (also known as the M21, along with “Sin Ala,” “Without Wing” for its vertical sides) is a steel combat helmet developed alongside the M1926 helmet in 1926 for use by the Spanish Army. The model never being formally adopted by the army in favor of the M1926.[1] The exact reasoning for the designation “M1921” is not known as it was developed later.
