C Type Flying Helmet  Peter Hogarth 1940s

C Type Flying Helmet , Peter Charles Hogarth , This man was flying in Avenger aircraft from HMS Nowra, as an Observer for gunnery practice of Greenwell point , New South Wales Australia on 15th January 1945 when they suffered engine failure and ditched , they spent 2 hours in the sea until the tide bought them into the coast. Bought from the family, also includes a copy of the report.

C type helmet has this mans name inside, areound earcups (see Photo’s) obviously this piece is in very worn condition, all straps are intact, leather inside is very worn and bits missing, outside leather has some cracks but is still supple. All studs and clips are intact.
