Description

WW1 Relic Type 100 IIB Percussion Fuse 1916, Battle of the Somme
A well battered and used Relic No 100 IIB Percussion Fuse ,dated 1916
Somme find.

More sophisticated than the ‘direct action fuses’, ‘Graze fuses’ are the most usual percussion fuses in WW1. The N°100 percussion fuse is the root of a rich family of numerous British percussion fuss including the famous N°101N°102, N°103, N°104, N°108, N°109, etc….

Designed in the emergency of the end of 1914, this model went from the engineering table to the production in 10 days only ! This unbelievable performance was a real success, but obviously didn’t leave enough time for optimizing its manufacturing and the fuse properties. Despite its imperfections, the fuse N°100 was continuously used from 1915 to 1917.
