The Hill 60 monument is also from the Ypres battlefield. It is made of brass
and commemorates the fierce battle that took place between German and English troops who captured and retook the area repeatedly. Later, during WWII, Hill 60 was also the sight of a desperate battle between the Germans and A Company of the 2nd Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers in May 1940. The memorial’s plaque to the Australian miners bears the scars of this battle
