Obituary: Nixon -In Honoured and ever loving memory of Leigh Morphew Nixon, Lieut, 7th(74th) Sqdn RAF reported missing on may 17th 1918, brought down in action over the German lines near La Gorgue and believed killed. Borne on the wings of high adventure to the presence of God , where he rests.

Formed at Northolt in July 1917 the sqdn was led to France at the end of March 1918 by Major K.L. Caldwell, equipped with SE5a’s , here it was to claim 140 aircraft destroyed and 85 out of control for the relatively modest loss of 15 pilots killed or taken prisoner. of the 17 pilots who claimed 5 or more victories Capt E.C.Mannock gained 36 of his total with this unit, while Capt J.I.T.Jones was credited with 37 in just 3 months.
