The Adrian helmet was introduced by the French Army in 1915 after the devastating number of head wounds suffered during trench warfare. Designed by Louis Adrian, it became the first widely issued modern steel combat helmet of the war.

The infantry version featured the distinctive RF flaming grenade insignia, identifying it as a standard French infantry helmet. Original helmets were factory painted in the famous “horizon blue” colour used by the French Army during WW1.

Over time, many surviving examples have naturally darkened, giving them the attractive aged appearance seen on genuine untouched helmets today.
