Original British Victorian Crimean War Era ( Volunteer Rifle Corps ) Regiment Forage Cap

Original Item: One of a Kind. Here we have a very nice Victorian short brim forage cap, dating from the Crimean War era. The front of the cap bears a large ornate V.F.C. with Queens Crown.

The cap itself is the typical Mid Victorian style, and would have once been adorned with possibly a gold hat band, which has faded to brown. The cap is made from Straw and is in great condition, no damage whatsoever. The top of the cap has a oilskin cover which again is in good condition.   The interior of the cap does not have any maker mark, but is marked 6/34. It has it’s original liner or sweatband.  One strap button is missing to the left side. Please see photo’s
