An original Second World War U.S. Navy Mk 2 Machete, clearly dated 1941, representing one of the earliest wartime examples issued to American forces following the United States’ entry into World War II.

Designed as a heavy-duty cutting tool, the USN Mk 2 Machete was intended for use in dense tropical and jungle environments where conventional hand tools proved inadequate. These robust machetes became essential equipment for U.S. Navy shore parties, Seabees, Marines and other personnel operating throughout the Pacific Theatre, where they were used for clearing vegetation, constructing camps, opening supply routes and countless everyday engineering tasks.

Manufactured to withstand the harsh conditions of wartime service, the Mk 2 featured a broad, heavy blade capable of cutting through dense undergrowth while remaining strong enough for general field use. Early 1941-dated examples are particularly desirable, representing production from the opening period of America’s wartime mobilisation.
