Historical Background

The Model 1940 Stahlhelm entered production during 1940 as Germany’s military campaigns expanded across Europe. While externally similar to the earlier M35, the M40 featured stamped ventilation holes formed directly into the shell rather than separate inserted vents. This simplified manufacturing while maintaining the exceptional ballistic protection for which the Stahlhelm was renowned.
