Montgomery of Alamein FM signed 1953 Coronation year Alamein Anniversary 23rd Oct 1953 at The Empress Hall London official programme. Some handling wear as to be expected, but an unusual item. Spine has got tape to it but doesn’t effect the signature.

Montgomery (1887-1976) was wounded by a sniper during the First Battle of Ypres but returned to later fight in both the Battles of Arras and Passchendaele during 1917. ‘Monty’ commanded the British 8th Army in the Western Desert during WWII including the Second Battle of El Alamein, a major turning point of the campaign. He later commanded the 8th Army during the invasions of Sicily and then Italy. For Operation Overlord he was given control of all Allied ground forces from the landings until after the Battle of Normandy where he then led the 21st Army Group for the remanding North West Europe campaign. Monty was also noted for his actions at the Battle of the Bulge where he rallied US forces to halt and then reverse the German advance. On 4th May 1945 he accepted the German surrender at Lüneburg Heath
