The Norfolk Regiment Regimental Crest Teapot from the 9th Battalion plus Display Card
A very attractive Norfolk Regiment commemorative teapot, featuring the Norfolk Regiment regimental crest to both front and lid, accompanied by an illustrated historical card dedicated to the 9th (Service) Battalion, The Norfolk Regiment and its service during the First World War.
The white ceramic teapot carries the distinctive Norfolk Regiment badge, featuring Britannia seated upon a globe together with the regimental scroll and motto “Hic Virtus Permanet” – “Here Valour Endures.”
The teapot has a traditional rounded form with a curved pouring spout and large loop handle, and would make an excellent piece for a collection of British regimental china, Norfolk Regiment memorabilia or First World War commemorative items.
9th (Service) Battalion – The Norfolk Regiment
Accompanying the teapot is a laminated illustrated commemorative card headed:
“THE 9th (SERVICE) BATTALION
THE NORFOLK REGIMENT”
with the regimental motto:
“FOR KING AND COUNTRY”
The card provides an interesting history of the 9th (Service) Battalion, which was raised at Norwich in September 1914 during the expansion of the British Army following the outbreak of the First World War.
It records the battalion’s service on the Western Front from 1915, including participation in some of the major campaigns of the Great War:
Battle of Loos – 1915
Battle of the Somme – 1916
Battle of Arras – 1917
Third Battle of Ypres / Passchendaele – 1917
German Spring Offensive – 1918
Hundred Days Offensive – 1918
A Lovely Regimental Display Piece
The combination of the Norfolk Regiment crest teapot and the 9th Battalion historical card creates an attractive display relating to one of Norfolk’s historic county regiments.
The teapot would look particularly good displayed alongside Norfolk Regiment medals, photographs, cap badges, documents or other military memorabilia, while the accompanying card provides useful historical context for the display.
Condition
The teapot is in used antique/vintage condition, with some age-related marks and light surface wear visible from the photographs. The regimental crest remains clearly visible. One very small chip to edge of spout.
A charming piece of Norfolk Regiment memorabilia, combining regimental ceramic ware with an informative First World War commemorative display card.
