Description

This M26 WW2 French Adrian Helmet is a shell , it’s in good order, no RF badge, No liner etc. A dark green paintwork. Clean body.

The French Adrian helmet was introduced in 1915 as the first modern steel combat helmet and was issued to French troops fighting in the trenches of World War I. Other countries quickly realized the value of a steel helmet and adopted the concept of providing helmets for their soldiers, albeit it in a variety of differing designs. But the French must be credited with being the first with the Adrian. The helmet was improved in 1926 and designated the Adrian M26. The M26 was easier to produce and provided better protection.

The Adrian design is unique among steel helmets with a raised crest on top. The crest covers the ridge vents on the helmet and is designed with a little bit of French artistic flare. The helmet is made out of manganese steel. French helmets sport a disc on the front to denote which branch of their military it was issued to.
