An original First World War German artillery shell projectile relic, recovered in “as found” condition from the SOMME area of conflict and showing clear evidence of having detonated or been subjected to an explosion.
The projectile body is heavily damaged and fragmented, with only partial structure remaining. Notably, the brass firing ring (driving band) is still present, providing a strong identifying feature and an attractive contrast to the corroded steel body.
