Description

This is a Rare German LKZ 16 shell percussion fuze used on gas shells for the 7.7cm field guns. The fuze  has been fired and this nose section was ripped off and does have some damage from that of a hole caused on impact but still nice and solid these heads are rare to find anyway. The shell head is in very nice condition but does have no original markings but has been very well cleaned perfect for display and a rare one for the collection. This fuze has been recovered from woods near the village of Flers on the Somme battlefield of late summer 1916. Flers was the first village captured using tanks in September 1916 during the battle of the Somme.
