Original WW2 French Adrian Helmet M26 Pattern – Former Red Cross / First Aid Issue – Repainted

An original French M1926 Adrian helmet, dating from the Second World War period and displaying evidence of having originally served as a First Aid / Red Cross issue helmet.

The helmet retains traces of its earlier role, with remnants of the original white-painted finish and Red Cross emblem to the front, indicating use by medical or civil defence personnel. At some point during its service life, the helmet was overpainted in a green finish, possibly for military, civil defence, or post-war use.

The later green paint has now developed extensive crazing and crackling, giving the helmet an attractive aged appearance and clearly showing its various layers of history.
