German Messerschmitt Bf109 Engine Radiator from 109 number 1129, shot down on the 6th September 1940 over Kent during the Battle of Britain.

German Messerschmitt Bf109 Engine Radiator from 109 number 1129, shot down on the 6th September 1940 over Kent during the Battle of Britain.

Messerschmitt Bf 109-4(1129) of 8/JG53 was shot down by Pilot Officer G.H.Bennions of RAF 41 Squadron during combat over Chatham at 1800 hrs on the 6th September 1940. The aircraft exploded over the mouth of the River Medway and crashed at Kingsnorth Marshes, the pilot was Feldwebel Hempel baled out of the aircraft but was killed.  Piece shows signs of bullet holes .
