Messerschmitt 109E-4 work number 2024 shot down on the 29th October 1940 and crashed in the village of Pluckley near Charing, Kent

German Messerschmitt bf 109E-4 work number 2024 of 3/JG3.The plane was piloted by Oberleutnant Hintze the staffel kapitan on the 29th October 1940 at 2.30pm the plane was shot down.

This Messerschmitt was in combat with RAF fighters when it shot down by Seageant Burgess of Number 222 squadron in a running battle over Kent the plane crashed at Sheerlands Farm in Pluckley near Ashford in Kent. Oberleutnant Hintze bailed out wounded and was captured. The plane was recovered in 1976 with many parts being found.
