PB512 served with No. 582 Squadron RAF, part of the elite No. 8 (Pathfinder) Group, based at RAF Little Staughton. On 5 October 1944, while returning from operations, the aircraft tragically crashed near North Weald, Essex, claiming the lives of all seven crew members.

The Avro Lancaster

The Avro Lancaster was the RAF’s principal heavy bomber of the Second World War.
