Original WWII Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Engine Piston
Battlefield Relic – Recovered in Belgium, 2012
An original Second World War Focke-Wulf Fw 190 engine piston, recovered from a crash site in Belgium in 2012. This is an authentic battlefield relic from one of Germany’s most formidable fighter aircraft.
The piston would originally have formed part of the aircraft’s powerful BMW 801 fourteen-cylinder radial engine, which powered the majority of Fw 190A and F-series aircraft. Producing up to 2,000 horsepower, the BMW 801 gave the Fw 190 its outstanding speed, acceleration and rugged reliability, making it one of the Luftwaffe’s most successful fighters.
Presented in untouched relic condition, the piston displays decades of natural ageing and corrosion consistent with long-term burial. It has been carefully preserved as recovered, retaining its original wartime character and genuine battlefield patina.
Whether displayed on its own or alongside other aviation relics, this is an impressive piece of aviation history and a tangible reminder of the intense air war fought over occupied Europe.
