British 6 Pounder Mk. 11 Trench Art Vase Shell Case Dated 1944

An original British 6-Pounder Mk. II shell case, dated 1944, manufactured by Royal Laboratories Woolwich Arsenal., later repurposed as trench art. The 6-Pounder gun was widely employed  during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, for various uses , continuing in service through the First and into the Second World War.

This shell case is of drawn brass construction with flared rim and stamped base markings, including manufacturer (RL), date”‘1944), and calibre designation. The case has been repurposed into trench art, reflecting its post-service adaptation into a souvenir or commemorative item.
