A pair of Original Black & White photo’s of B17s , one has a pair of aircraft and one a single one. both aircraft have British markings. The RAF did operate the B-17 Flying Fortress during World War II, designating the aircraft as the Fortress Mk I, Mk II, and Mk III.

These aircraft featured official British camouflage and markings (RAF roundels), unlike the typical unpainted aluminium or olive drab schemes of the U.S. Army Air Forces (USAAF) B-17s stationed in the UK.

The RAF initially received 20 B-17Cs (designated Fortress Mk I) in 1941 and put them into frontline service for high-altitude daylight bombing missions. However, their performance in this role was poor, leading to high losses. The remaining aircraft were transferred to RAF Coastal Command for long-range maritime patrol and anti-submarine duties, where they were more successful.

Size of pictures is 9 in x 7 in.
