Description

An original British Army Officers peaked cap to an officer in the 16th Queens Lancers.

This pattern of cap was used for decades by the British Army and is now synonymous with the British Army Officer. This example dates from before the Second World War as the shape is typical of those made during the 1920s-30s period. It has the shorter sides and semi-stiff top typical of the era as well as a short round peak and medium leather sweatband. Later wartime  examples would have a higher crown and more ‘crusher’ shape to the top as well as a wider bill and much wider leather sweatband to the interior.

The cap features an officers bronzed and brass cap badge which has a Kings crown. The leather chin strap is in nice condition and is held on with officers bronzed Queens Lancers 16th buttons.

The interior of the cap is in reasonable condition for its age showing signs of service wear. The maker is hard to make out on the oil skin lining .it’s most certainly one of the more common London makers found on officers caps of this period. The stitching of the leather sweatband is good around the cap.

The exterior of the cap is in nice condition as can be seen in the pictures and it displays very nicely. Overall it shows some signs of age and service wear but is a nice example.

This cap is typical of a pre Second World War manufacture and would make a nice addition to any collection.
