British M1888 Mk 1 Type 11 Lee Metford Rifle Bayonet. This bayonet is in overall good condition as its over 130 years old.The 305 mm double edged blade has the Sanderson Sheffield stamp marked clear. The spine of the blade also bears two inspection stamps and the date 88.The blade carries no pitting or tarnish marks. The wooden grip is firm, there are two large brass rivets positioned close together , above this is the pommel which there in the hilt is the hole drilled for oil also the press stud locking mechanism is in good working order. This bayonet comes with its original scabbard , this is made of brown leather with steel furniture. Unusually this has a odd tail feral and a brass frog stud of which ive not seen before. The colour & stitching of the scabbard is firm and undamaged. The overall length of the bayonet is 42.5cm and is held firmly in the scabbard.
